The "status law", which is expected to have a major impact on Hungarian teachers' lives, is just a draft for now, but the unions say that several of its points are unacceptable. One union leader told us she believes only Brussels is able to exert pressure on the government at this point. A few thousand people gathered to protest against the planned bill, and after the speeches, many walked over to the Prime Minister's office, where opposition MPs tried to pull down the cordon again.
