Péter Magyar: The Tisza Party is ready to work with Donald Trump

"America has decided. Congratulations to President Donald Trump and the elected members of the Senate and the House of Representatives." – Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza Party, wrote on his Facebook page after Donald Trump had delivered his victory speech.

Magyar said that the United States of America is one of Hungary's most important allies and economic partners, and

“the Tisza Party is ready to work with the new US administration to further develop the relationship between our countries.”

Although the Magyar-led Tisza Party was only formed this spring and currently has no representatives in the Hungarian parliament, it won the second highest number of votes in the June EP elections. This allowed them to send 7 MEPs to the European Parliament. The most recent opinion polls show that since the EP elections, the Tisza Party's support has continued to grow and it has now come very close to Fidesz-KDNP. The surveys of Republikon and 21 Kutatóközpont show support for the two parties within a margin of error of each other among those who are sure to vote.

Both Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó congratulated Trump earlier, while DK chairman Ferenc Gyurcsány said the world will be a lousier place for a while, with Trump back in the White House.
