Masses of people are deprived of quality education in Hungary, leading to a repeated cycle of poverty. The complex development programmes of Van Helyed Foundation are helping – typically Roma – children in Ózd, born in segregated neighbourhoods to obtain a higher level of education than their parents did, and many of them even go on to tertiary education. Despite its important achievements, the organisation is in a critical financial situation, and the state doesn't seem eager to help. (English subtitles available.)
