Fidesz politicians say there is nothing wrong with their party having received funds from abroad before

Although Hungary's governing Fidesz party and its party foundation have in the past received funding from abroad, Fidesz politicians claim this does not mean that the ruling party has ever served foreign interests. At the opening session of the spring session of Parliament, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán hinted again at new legislation being prepared against organizations accepting foreign funding. The MPs said that those who are working against Hungarian interests will be punished, but they were unable to clarify who exactly will decide this and on what basis.
