The leaders of NATO member states gathered in Vilnius on 11 July, where a group photo of the presidents and prime ministers was taken.

Bloomberg's correspondent posted a short video on Twitter of US President Joe Biden arriving to pose for the group photo. The video shows Biden shaking hands with one person before taking his place: Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

The Hungarian leader also shared the moment before the handshake on his Facebook page:

The Hungarian Prime Minister arrived in the Lithuanian capital for the NATO summit on Tuesday morning. The talks are focusing on the war in Ukraine and Sweden's accession to NATO. At the summit, Orbán will also hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Sweden's accession to NATO, Zsolt Németh, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, said on Tuesday morning. Németh said that the prime minister would communicate the Hungarian government's position on the matter afterwards.

On Tuesday morning, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó wrote on Facebook: "the government supports Sweden's accession to NATO, which is why we submitted a proposal to this effect to Parliament many months ago. Completing the ratification is now only a technicality," he wrote. The Hungarian government had originally planned to approve the Swedish and Finnish applications for accession last autumn, but this did not happen. Finland's accession was finally approved in March, but Sweden is still waiting for the ratification.

On Monday evening, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that the long resistant Turkey now also supports Sweden's accession to NATO. Szijjártó had earlier indicated that "communication" with Ankara was " close and ongoing" and that "if there should be any sort of shift, we will naturally keep our promise that Hungary will not delay any country in terms of membership".
