Sándor Fegyir has been waiting for months to become Ukraine's ambassador to Hungary because his nomination has not yet been signed by President Katalin Novák. Fegyir is a volunteer soldier from Transcarpathia, a lecturer at the National University of Uzhhorod, who has now given an interview to hvg360. His initial thought was that they would liberate the Ukrainian lands bit by bit by counter-attacking.

"The war will end when we liberate the whole of Ukraine, and victory will come when the enemy state collapses," he said firmly.

Quoting Hemingway, he answered the question of how tired people are of war. The American writer believed that people get used to war. It's hard, but you get used to it. Then it gets hard again, but you get used to it. As Fegyir sees it, everyone is affected by constant fear.

Who said that Hungary is not taking part in the war? – asked whether the position that Hungary wanted to stay out of the war was acceptable. He also stated that 400 Hungarians are fighting successfully in the Ukrainian army, but 30 have unfortunately been killed.

According to Hungarian government propaganda, the Hungarians in Transcarpathia are in danger. The portal also asked him how much the Hungarians in Transcarpathia feel the war is their own. Here are his views in full:

"Propaganda works well when it has an audience.

If the propaganda is primitive, that means its audience is too. I myself am an example that Hungarians, like representatives of other nationalities in Ukraine, defend their families and their homeland.

We are very grateful to the Hungarian volunteers, and to all our friends in Hungary for their tremendous help. The Hungarian nation has its own historical mission, unchanged for 400 years: to be the shield of Europe, to defend the values of European civilisation against the aggressors from the East. Now we are doing the same in 2023."

If he could meet Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, he would ask him to go to Székesfehérvár with him, and he would have a lot to say to him there.
