The Chief Advisor for National Security and State Secretary for National Information at the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office, Lieutenant General József Kovács, was present at the recent meeting of the Bucharest Nine in Warsaw, where the parties unanimously declared that they are ready to support Ukraine as long as necessary, hvg.hu reports.

A statement and photos of the May 24 meeting of the Bucharest Nine (in addition to Hungary, the group includes Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia) were released by the Polish National Security Agency, which is where hvg.hu spotted Antal Rogán's chief advisor.

This meeting was a preparation for the NATO summit planned for 6 June in Bratislava. At the meeting,

the parties reaffirmed their intention to continue to speak with one voice in NATO and EU fora, reiterated their condemnation of Russia's war against Ukraine and asserted that Ukraine's victory is important for the security and stability of the whole of Europe.

Hvg.hu points out the interesting dichotomy that while the Hungarian government's senior officials continue to spout pro-peace rhetoric concerning the war, one of the state secretaries from the Prime Minister's cabinet office is discussing support for Ukraine and its future membership in NATO.
