Iryna Vereshchuk, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister has expressed strong criticism about the Hungarian government. In her Tuesday Facebook post, she criticizes Hungary for not sending weapons to Ukraine and adds that the Hungarian government’s rhetoric is not far from an openly pro-Russian stance.

“The way the Hungarian leadership has been treating Ukraine is worse than what some satellite-states of the former Soviet Union are doing. Hungary does not support the sanctions. They are not transporting weapons, and are not permitting the transit of arms shipment being sent from other countries. They are basically saying “no” to everything.

The official rhetoric of Budapest barely differs from an openly pro-Russian stance. And why is this? Perhaps it is because they want to receive Russian gas at a good price? Or maybe because deep down they are dreaming about our Transcarpathian region?”

-writes Vereshchuk, adding that in this civilizational clash, Hungary should choose the good and civilized side, unlike in the 2nd World War. “Indeed, the right choice is always hard at first, but in the long run, it is easy to live with it. This is precisely why it is the right choice.” – she concludes.
