House Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, László Kövér spoke on Wednesday in Martos, (Martovce) Slovakia, at the opening event of Martfeszt. Martfeszt is a summer institute program dedicated to serving the Hungarian minority community in Slovakia.

Kövér expressed his views on the main problems faced by Europe and the European Union, migration and migrant quotas, the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine and other challenges of global importance. Fortunately, just like last time, his words were documented by MTI, thus we have a summary of the main points available for our readers:

Where do the roots of the continent's problems go back to?

To the time of the regime change. In recent years, we have witnessed the results of decades of latent processes come to the surface, such as the economic crisis and migration.

Have these surpassed our worst nightmares?

They have.

Are there answers to the questions concerning the implementation of the decision on the mandatory distribution of migrants through quotas?

There aren't.

What is the question we should be asking instead?

What all this is really about.

"If the goal isn't to break up the EU itself – which I'm not ruling out – then the minimum objective is to weaken the EU beyond measure and throw it into chaos."

For whom will the population that has fled Ukraine be a net demographic gain?

For a stagnant, childless, selfish, cannibalistic society.

Where are the resources, physical and human, being funnelled to from the East via Europe?

Overseas.

What process are we witnessing in the world?

A process of disintegration.

What is being completely destroyed by this process?

Authority and culture.

What is the ultimate goal of all this?

The dismantling of human identity.

According to Kövér, the task ahead of us today is therefore the salvaging of values, the salvaging of "a state of normality." He noted that there are places which no longer have the option of going back from their current state, but we, Hungarians, still have this option.
