Zelensky thanks Magyar for his compassion and strong position on Russian drone attack on Transcarpathia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Péter Magyar condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine was “an important message”. In his message on X, Zelensky was reacting to what the Hungarian Prime Minister had said at the first press briefing of his government.

According to Zelensky, “Moscow has once again shown itself to be a common threat not only to Ukraine, but also to neighbouring countries and Europe as a whole”. Zelensky also stressed that the common position matters for ending this brutal war. He also thanked the Hungarian Prime Minister for his compassion and strong position.

Newly appointed Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán had previously summoned the Russian ambassador for a meeting on Thursday morning to discuss the drone attack on Transcarpathia. Gergely Gulyás, the leader of Fidesz's parliamentary group, also condemned the attack on his Facebook page: “The Hungarian population of Transcarpathia has nothing to do with the war. We condemn the Russian drone attack in the strongest terms and consider it unacceptable,” he wrote.
