Arrest warrants issued in case involving Viktor Orbán’s younger brother

Arrest warrants have been issued for both suspects in a criminal case involving a labour hire agency, the Central Investigative Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday. The two individuals were taken into custody on Wednesday on suspicion of influence peddling and other crimes; at that time, we reported that Áron Orbán, the younger brother of the outgoing prime minister was also implicated in the case.

During the investigation, the prosecutor’s office conducted searches and made seizures, questioned four persons as suspects, and ordered the detention of two of them. Since the authorities believe there is a risk that the detained suspects could flee, go into hiding, or obstruct the investigation, they also ordered their arrest. The court agreed and ordered the suspects to be held in custody for one month. The suspects and their defense attorneys have filed an appeal against the order.

Telex disclosed details of the case in 2025, but until this week, the authorities have consistently responded to our inquiries by saying that the investigation is still ongoing. The names of the suspects are not mentioned in the statement issued by the prosecutor’s office, but it is possible to deduce who they are. Áron Orbán is not among them, but one of his close associates and friends is.

The investigation was not rushed: as far as we know, the evidence was already available to the authorities when Telex first uncovered the story.
