Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán left for Brussels on Tuesday evening to attend the EU summit.
His entourage on the military plane included the leading figures of government propaganda, for whom he once again held a private briefing on the plane. Dániel Deák, the social-media influencer from Megafon, was the most diligent of them, typing up and posting reports on his social media page even while en route.
It was from here that the public found out that, according to Viktor Orbán, he had sent a letter to the Russian president ahead of the EU summit, asking what measures he was planning to take if the EU were to touch the seized Russian assets, and whether they were monitoring who was voting for what.
According to Orbán, Putin replied that they would be taking strong countermeasures, but would take into consideration how each member state voted. The Prime Minister then assured those on board that he did not support the move, as he considered it another step towards escalation.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó had already arrived in Brussels before Orbán and had spoken in detail during the day about the Hungarian government's position, stating as well that they had checked the waters with Vladimir Putin beforehand.
In addition to discussing important matters, while on the plane, Viktor Orbán also revealed what he considers to be the best things about Brussels: the chocolate and getting to come home from there.
