"Italians and Hungarians are two freedom fighting peoples, and we are their heirs. We will never surrender, we will never give up our freedom, and we will never turn our countries over to foreigners. We will neither hand them over to the Brussels bureaucrats, nor to the global financial powers, nor to the migrants", Viktor Orbán said on Sunday in Italy, when speaking at a rally of the Matteo Salvini-led Lega in a field by the small town of Pontida near Bergamo, according to MTI. The Hungarian Prime Minister was the guest of honour at the rally.
Viktor Orbán recently called Matteo Salvini a European patriot who deserves a medal instead of criminal prosecution for closing the borders.
In his speech, Orbán stated that Hungary has been successfully fighting “the international left” for 14 years now. "We have governed more successfully than the left, the patriots have governed more successfully than the international left," he said.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that families are protected in Hungary. "We won't let them make a joke out of marriage, we won't let them laugh at people who love their families." There is no future without families, Orbán said, adding that the Hungarian constitution stipulates that "marriage is between a man and a woman". The constitution also states that the father is a man and the mother is a woman, he added, stressing that this will remain the case no matter what "the international left" tries to do.
Orbán also said that in his opinion Hungary is the safest country in Europe, and added that the number of migrants in Hungary is zero.
He said that the European left has made a mess of everything and that the bureaucrats in Brussels are not serving the interests of Europeans, but their own. He warned that if this continues, it will bring about the collapse of the European Union. The Prime Minister also pointed out that in MEPs who are patriots are being deprived of their rights in the European Parliament and that patriots and sovereignists are being persecuted in Brussels.
"Although Hungary and Italy are first in our hearts, we cannot turn our backs on Brussels; if we turn it over to the left, they will overthrow the patriotic national governments, as they did in Poland," Orbán said in Italy.
Orbán welcomed the formation of a right-wing government in Italy, followed by the victories of Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, Herbert Kickl in Austria and Andrej Babiš in the Czech Senate elections.
"At the end of this struggle, Paris will have turned around, we will take back Warsaw and we will be the strongest political force in Europe. Then we will take control of Brussels policy and will make Europe great, strong, prosperous and free again."
