John Malkovich will perform three shows at Budapest’s House of Music in November. The Oscar-nominated actor has teamed up with pianist Anastasya Terenkova to create a special collaborative production entitled The Infamous Ramirez Hoffman, based on a novel by Roberto Bolaño. The shows will be held on 17 and 18 November.

The project is based on the final chapter of Bolaño's book La literatura nazi en América, published in 1996. The book is an encyclopedia of fictional poets and writers, whose common feature is that they all hold extreme right-wing views. The chapter the show is based on tells the story of a Nazi poet, fighter pilot and cold-blooded murderer, while Anastasya Terenkova's chamber trio plays pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Antonio Vivaldi, Max Richter, Eric Satie and others. Malkovich's voice will feature as the fourth instrument during the performance.

John Malkovich visited the House of Music for the first time this summer, when he was on holiday in Budapest. At the time, the actor toured the House of Music's concert halls, its Sound Dome and visited the temporary exhibition Divas & Icons.

The actor previously performed in the Hungarian capital in 2022 as The Music Critic.

The November performances will include a live projection of Hungarian subtitles. Tickets for the performance of The Infamous Ramirez Hoffman go on sale on 11 September at 10:00 on the House of Music website and at their box office. The evening performances will be followed by a short interview with the actor.
