Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing on Tuesday, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's press chief, told MTI, the Hungarian State News Agency. Orbán and Putin discussed Hungarian-Russian cooperation on gas and oil deliveries and nuclear energy.

During the meeting, Viktor Orbán stressed the importance of peace, saying that it was crucial for the entire continent, including Hungary, that there be an end to the flood of refugees, the sanctions and the fighting.

Viktor Orbán arrived in Beijing on Monday, and was received by Chinese Premier Li Qiang with military honours, after which they held bilateral talks.

The Hungarian Prime Minister is set to address the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing on Wednesday. Politico reported earlier that the Hungarian Prime Minister will be the only EU leader attending the event.
