According to Time magazine, Péter Magyar and his party’s landslide election victory in Hungary in April represents “the most unabashedly pro-European political outcome in the post-Brexit era”, which is why the Hungarian Prime Minister was included in this year’s TIME100 Next list for 2026.

The magazine’s annual ranking of the most influential rising talents features figures who have emerged more or less out of nowhere, integrated themselves into cultural life, captured the spirit of the times, or suddenly surged to the forefront of their respective industries. This year’s Time 100 list includes singer Raye, actress Ashley Padilla, and comedian Druski, who made his way from social media to Hollywood.

Péter Magyar is featured in the category of leaders. He made the list by "ending 16 uninterrupted years of Viktor Orban’s rule in Hungary". Time briefly describes how Magyar managed to achieve this; according to the magazine, his victory gives Hungary the opportunity to bring its illiberal period to a close, “having proved that the people and institutions, the rule of law and democracy are more powerful than one man. It’s a lesson that should resonate from Europe to the U.S. ", they wrote.

On this year’s TIME100 Next list, the Hungarian Prime Minister appears in the category of leaders alongside Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and James Blair, who is orchestrating Donald Trump’s U.S. midterm election strategy.
