Polish ultras attack Hungarian football fans in Zabrze

A group of fans supporting the Polish club Górnik Zabrze attacked several supporters of Budapest's Ferencváros at a pizzeria in Zabrze, according to Tvn24, which also posted a video of the incident. The attack took place on Wednesday evening, when a large group of Polish ultras had an altercation with the Hungarian fans and then smashed the restaurant’s windows. The Hungarian fans barricaded themselves inside.

The attackers fled as soon as police had arrived, and according to Tvn24, the police did not arrest anyone in connection with the incident. However, Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán wrote on Facebook that individuals suspected of involvement in the incident were questioned. The Hungarian citizens were also questioned, but neither of them filed a complaint. According to the Polish press, one Hungarian fan suffered a broken shinbone when he landed awkwardly when trying to jump over a fence while fleeing the scene. He is currently being treated at a local hospital.

Anita Orbán strongly condemned all forms of violence and wrote that the Consulate General is in constant contact with the Zabrze police department and both clubs. The fan buses organized by FTC will arrive at the stadium at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, where the Consul General will be meeting them.
