Tisza Party 13 points ahead of Fidesz among decided voters, IDEA survey finds

According to IDEA Institute's most recent poll, conducted between March 29 and April 4, 50 percent of those certain to vote, with a party preference will vote for the Tisza Party, while 37 percent will vote for Fidesz–KDNP.

According to the survey published on Thursday, the Tisza Party also holds a significant lead among the overall population, with 39 percent planning to vote for Péter Magyar’s party and 30 percent preferring to keep Viktor Orbán’s government in power. The survey found that 21 percent of the voting-age population do not identify with any political party.

IDEA’s poll results place the far-right Mi Hazánk near the threshold required to enter parliament; according to the latest data, they stand at 5 percent among those certain to vote and 4 percent among the total population. According to the poll, neither the Democratic Coalition (DK) nor the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party (MKKP) are likely to enter the National Assembly.

IDEA’s previous polling data was released on March 12; compared to those numbers, Tisza’s lead among those certain to vote, and also having a party preference has increased by 1 percentage point, while the distribution of support among the general population remains unchanged – both parties gained 1 point each, which is a shift within the margin of error.

Methodology

IDEA conducted the survey between March 29, 2026, and April 4, 2026, using an online questionnaire with a sample size of 1,500 respondents. The margin of error is no more than 2.3 percentage points.
