Hungary's women's water polo team beat New Zealand 23-5 in the third round of the Olympic qualifying World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, thus qualifying directly among the eight, MTI reports.

Attila Bíró's team will have an extra day of rest and will next have to jump into the pool on Monday, most likely against the European champion Spain.

The two finalist teams will qualify for next year's Olympics in Paris.

"I have no reason to be dissatisfied, but this match has no major implications. I'm looking forward to the next two days, however, because we'll have training matches against the Netherlands and the defending champions, the American team. This will help me deduct what kind of shape we are in, because we'll be playing the cream of the crop, just like on Monday," Attila Bíró, the national team's coach said, referring to the quarter-final, in which his players will probably play against Spain. "I believe we will find their weak points that are in our favour, and that's what we'll be preparing for in the next two days," he said.
