Arte: Are the EU's new trade deals enough to survive Trump's tariffs?
Europe's economy thrives on exports. It sells cars, wine and luxury goods all over the world, and millions of jobs in Europe depend on it. The USA is still the EU's largest trading partner, but it’s hard to work with a self-styled ‘Tariff King’ who slaps on unexpected tariffs from one day to the next. The EU is trying to protect its economy, and so is building new trade partnerships around the world, from South America to India and Malaysia.
This programme is produced by the European platform ARTE and available in 10 languages through the European media partnership EMOVE Hub. The hub is coordinated by ARTE and includes Balkan Insight (BIRN), Sinopsis (BIRN Romania), El País (ES), Gazeta Wyborcza (PL), Internazionale (IT), Ir, (LV), Kathimerini (GR), Le Soir (BE) and Telex (HU). The partnership receives EU-funding following DG CNECT’s call for European Media Hubs within the framework of the EU’s Multimedia Actions.
