László Kövér expressed his regret over the postponement of the Bratislava meeting of the V4 Speakers of the House, according to a statement issued by the Parliament's Press Office.

"Over the past 30 years, regional cooperation between the four countries has enabled us to represent our common interests together, even bridging ideological differences. The remarks of the speakers of the Czech Parliament concerning our country are untrue and disrespectful, they do not correspond to the facts and they call into question the right of the Hungarian government to shape its policy according to the interest of the Hungarian nation", Kövér wrote.

Czech Speaker Markéta Pekarová Adamová and Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil refused to sit at the same table with the Hungarian side at the meeting of V4 presidents previously scheduled for next Friday, and Seznamzpravy.cz reports that the leaders of the two chambers of the Polish Sejm would not have attended the meeting either, because of the Hungarian government's policy regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.

In the end, it was on Tuesday that the Slovaks announced that the meeting of the V4 chairs would not take place as planned, i.e. on Friday next week.

There have been signs before that the former great V4 unity has broken down: the once great Polish-Hungarian friendship is not as solid as it used to be, as we have previously reported as well.
